Kacie Says Life is Short So Embrace the Boudoir Shoot
Kacie came to us through a promotion we ran on Facebook. When she saw the ad, she said, “I had always heard of boudoir photography sessions but honestly never thought I would do one because I was never in the “right” shape to do one.” But she changed her mind after joining our Facebook ladies’ group One Soul Women and saw the work that we post there,
“I felt confident enough that One Soul makes EVERY client beautiful in their photos, to enter a contest to win a session,” she said. And just that quickly, she was in the running. And won!
Kacie’s one of those super-busy career moms, so she wasn’t entirely prepared when she arrived on the day of her session.
“I was very nervous of course! I hadn’t had much time to shop for outfits so I was counting on some good stuff coming out of the provided wardrobe. I was very excited to get my hair and makeup done, though, which is something I always enjoy! Everything was so clean and nice and I couldn’t wait to get the makeover started!”
When the makeover was complete, Kacie couldn’t believe the result: “The makeup was amazing. I wish I could do it all the time!”
We’d pulled lots of items from our studio wardrobe for her, and we were ready to go!
“I was thrilled that Jill was pulling lots of clothing items in the style I envisioned for my shoot, and felt relief that there were so many options since I didn’t bring much with me,” she recalled.
The thing about the 90-ish-minute makeover is that it gives you plenty of time to unwind and relax, and then all the nerves come flying back when it’s time to get in front of the camera. We know this, of course, so we make sure we build confidence right away.
“I was initially nervous but that faded quickly as Jill and David were so complimentary,” Kacie said. “They made me feel like a million bucks. It went by so fast and was so much fun! I was thinking how cool that was and how amazing I was going to be able to pull off this big Christmas surprise for my husband and he had no idea!”
After it was over, she said, the bit in front of the camera was “so much easier and laid back and fun than I thought it would be. I was always looking forward to the hair and makeup part, but hours of shooting sounded intimidating. However, it flew by and was honestly so much fun. I felt great about myself after it was all finished.”
So we had a successful day with Karcie, and she left on air. Then it was time for her reveal. She originally was going to surprise her husbasnd entirely, but she said she has a problem with keeping surprises. We pivoted and suggested that we make it a two-fer for him by involving him in the reveal, and then surprising him with an album at Christmas, as she’d initially planned.
“I know he never expected me to do anything like this as I don’t have the best self-esteem. Seeing the pictures and the final makeup and hair was really cool. My husband loved every picture. I really want to do another shoot sometime in the future!”
That said, here’s Kacie’s advice to you:
“It is actually soooo much fun and I felt completely comfortable! Doesn’t matter what shape or size you are, you WILL look amazing. Life is short so embrace the photo shoot!”
